Dhenkanal Celebrates Wildlife Week with Photography Exhibition

The Dhenkanal Forest Division and IIMC Dhenkanal celebrated Wildlife Week 2025 with a Photography Exhibition showcasing Dhenkanal's biodiversity. The event announced winners in the open category, celebrating local citizen and student engagement with nature.
The Dhenkanal Forest Division, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal, celebrated World Wildlife Week 2025 with a vibrant Photography Exhibition at the Old Zila Parishad Hall on Monday evening.
The event was graced by Dr. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director, IIMC Dhenkanal; Shri Ashish Ishwar Patil, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate; Shri Abhinav Sonkar, IPS, Superintendent of Police; and Shri Sumit Kar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Dhenkanal.
The exhibition showcased photographs under three themes - Beauty in Biodiversity, Colours of Flora & Fauna, and Man–Animal: Peaceful Coexistence. Over 140 participants, including local residents and IIMC students, displayed their work capturing Dhenkanal’s deep connection with nature and wildlife.
In the open category, five winners were announced - Sonali Sahoo, Pranjal Pratish, Haree Krishna, Anshuman Pradhan, and Subhrakant Pradhan. Winners from the student category will be declared on October 9, during a special ceremony to be attended by Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of IIMC.
A special highlight of the evening was the screening of a short documentary titled Kapil, by DFO, which depicted the remarkable rescue and rehabilitation of an elephant rescued in March 2025, now thriving under forest care.
The exhibition drew enthusiastic participation from citizens, and students, turning the evening into a heartfelt celebration of Odisha’s wildlife and its harmonious coexistence with humans.
