Laxmi Puja celebrations have begun with great enthusiasm across Dhenkanal, featuring 41 pandals and vibrant mela grounds filled with food, handicrafts, and festive stalls. To manage the large crowds, authorities have set up health centers, deployed lady constables, and stationed 22 platoons for tight security throughout the 10-day festival.
Puja is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across Dhenkanal, with 41 Pandels set up throughout the town. The 10-day-long celebration will conclude with the grand immersion ceremony on October 15.
Adding to the festive spirit, various stalls have been set up across different mela grounds, from food to accessories, toys, and handicrafts. These small businesses together create the unique Laxmi Puja vibe, and for many local vendors, this time brings a major opportunity to earn more.
To ensure safety and health during the festival, a special first-aid center and four health centers have been established. A mobile health team and ambulance service are also operating, covering areas from the Police Mela to Ganesh Market Mela. “We have made all arrangements for immediate response in case of any medical emergency,” said Dr. B.N. Maharana.
With thousands of visitors arriving from different parts of Odisha and even outside the state, police have implemented tight security arrangements. Each post has stationed police personnel, along with traffic police, local guards, and constables.
For women’s safety, lady constables have been deployed in civil dress. A total of 22 platoons have been assigned for overall security, with 4–5 platoons kept reserved for emergencies. “Around one to two platoons are stationed at each major point to ensure public safety,” informed Assistant Commandant Tunu Sahoo.
